BANANAS! Rachel Zoe shocked the Bravoverse when she announced that she was joining the season 15 cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
The move left many OG Bravo fans scratching their heads wondering why the uber successful and famous stylist to the stars would be jumping back into the world of reality TV more than a decade after ending her namesake Bravo show, The Rachel Zoe Project.
Now, new light is being shed on the reasoning behind Rachel’s return to Bravo.
The U.S. Sun reports that Rachel decided to join RHOBH, amid her divorce from husband and business partner Rodger Berman, because money has allegedly “become tight” for the soon-to-be-exes.
“The money has been tighter for them for a while. It’s complicated because essentially, their entire lives are intertwined,” a source claims.
“He runs all her businesses so there is no separation of work and home life. And there is no separation of his work and hers,” the source continues. “She wanted to venture out and do something that didn’t involve him. This will be her first big job post-divorce that does not involve him, it will be hers.”
“She needs the money, sure, but even more so, she needs to start branching out on her own now that they are no longer together. It’s important to her. Rodger will continue to be involved in her businesses, but at a different capacity than he once was. When they finally do divorce, it’s going to cost a fortune, and she needs to be prepared.”
Meanwhile, Rachel recently told Backgrid that filming for season 15 of RHOBH has been “so much fun” so far. When asked what or who lured her into joining RHOBH, she teased, “You’ll have to find that out later.”
She also played coy about which cast members, she has bonded with so far: “Do you think I’m telling you that?”
Season 15 of RHOBH also stars returning Housewives Kyle Richards, Sutton Stracke, Dorit Kemsley, Erika Jayne, Boz St. John. Jennifer Tilly and Kathy Hilton are also returning as friends of the Housewives.
