RHOBH Alum Teddi Mellencamp Defends Dating New Beau Amid Stage 4 Cancer Battle

Teddi Mellencamp defends dating amid stage 4 cancer battle

Teddi Mellencamp is continuing to live her life unapologetically amid her ongoing cancer battle.

The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is defending her decision to date while battling stage 4 cancer.

“People have been coming for me for fostering a dog and dating,” Teddi said on Wednesday’s episode of her and Tamra Judge’s Two Ts in a Pod podcast.

“Like, ‘The only thing she should be worrying about right now are her kids and staying alive. How in the world could she be dating?’”

“If I want to put myself in a situation where I’m staying busy so I’m not getting depressed, why have a problem with that?” the 43-year-old added, noting that criticism from the Bravoverse does “bother” her.

While the Bravo trolls have continued to play doctor and remind Teddi of her condition, like she could ever forget, the former RHOBH star revealed that her doctor has encouraged her to continue living her life despite her diagnosis.

“My doctor said, ‘Now that I follow you on Instagram, I see some of the stuff that people write,’” the mom of three explained.

“‘I really don’t want you to think about your cancer as terminal. Just because that happened to somebody’s friend, aunt, brother, or cousin doesn’t mean that’s what’s happening to you. You should be having fun and trying to laugh.’”

Despite the criticism she’s received, Teddi told listeners that she’s “going better” amid all of the changes in her life.

“I’m at least feeling better, in the way that I’m working out four or five times a week. Fostering this new puppy has been really nice, and it’s given the kids a new source of happiness,” she shared.

Meanwhile, Tamra slammed Teddi’s haters, telling them to “f–k off.”

“There’s not a day that you’re not worried about your health, getting better, doing everything that you can do and spending time constantly with your children,” the Real Housewives of Orange County star said. “Like, shut the f–k up, honestly. If you wanna date, life doesn’t stop because you have cancer.”

Teddi and her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave split in November 2024 after 13 years of marriage. They share three children together: son Cruz and daughters Slate and Dove.

On June 3, Teddi announced that she’s “dating somebody.”

While Teddi did not identify her news man, she described him as “very kind” and a “nice” guy, who “takes good care” of her.

“He’s not married, he doesn’t have any kids,” she revealed, adding that he’s a “private person.”
