Julie and Todd Chrisley are used to living a life of luxury so it’s no surprise to hear that they are struggling to adjust to their new reality of prison life.

The Chrisley Knows Best alums are both serving prison sentences at separate facilities after being found guilty of a multimillion dollar bank fraud and tax evasion scheme in June 2022. Todd, 54, is serving his 12-year prison sentence at the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola. As for Julie, 50, she is serving her seven-year prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution and Federal Prison Camp Marianna. The reality TV couple will service a combined term of 19 years behind bars for their crimes.

Now, Chase is shedding light on the horrible conditions his parents are living in behind bars including black mold and no air.

“They’re hanging in there. It’s a terrible situation,” Chase told Extra. “The conditions are awful, and if you read all these headlines, they say the polar opposite. But it is not the truth, and we’re going to be spreading a lot of awareness to that as well.”

“They both have black mold, [and] lead-based paint; the roof is falling in on both facilities. So it’s just, it’s just a lie,” he continued. “Everyone has this perception that my parents are in this country club prison, and that’s just not the case at all. My mom’s sitting up there with no air, and my dad’s facility has no air.”

Chase dishes on Chrisley family’s new reality show

The 27-year-old reveals that his parents’ legal troubles have strengthened their family, noting that their new reality TV show will detail the unique bond between his siblings.

“We’ve definitely got a lot closer. When you get hit with something like this, I feel like a lot of people either separate and go their own ways, or they cling together, which is how we were raised. We’ve clung together, and we’re still fighting,” Chase revealed.

“We’ll address everything that we’re going through on a day-to-day basis with our new reality. Updates on my parents and our family situation and just kind of trying to navigate the waters of that,” he explained. “With everything that we’ve been going through, there’s been a lot of people that have been talking and kind of trying to tell our story for us, so we were like, we might as well get out there and tell it ourselves.”

The Chrisley family lived their lives in front of the cameras on USA’s “Chrisley Knows Best” for a decade. The show was cancelled in November 2022 amid Julie and Todd’s legal woes.
